Did 1965 Mustang Come With a Fan Shroud

  • #2

My 73 Vert, Q Codification 351C 4V currently has none fan clutch and a flex-fan. I suspect the railroad car came in the beginning with a winnow clutch and solid fan.

If so, can someone point me to which parts I should be buying to replace the deform-fan with a proper clutch/lover?

Car has factory A/C.

Thank You!

I followed Geoff's recommendations and am happy with the results.  I have no overheating issues with this setup connected my '72 Q-code driving in 90° +F here in Texas.

Exact. My car runs cool now, nonetheless it has a twist buff and no clutch. I like the clutch setup, but Sir Thomas More significantly I deficiency the twist winnow gone.:)

Safest bet, remove it and NEVER use a put-upon one from a dust one thousand Oregon anyone other.

Let me rephrase then: Gonna save around money for a new fan, not get rid of IT just use Eastern Samoa nice wall deco. Oh and we have no junk yards with US cars whatever more up here.Oklahoma?:D

They were all flex fans originally no hold. There was a call back cod to fans breaking and actually killed a couple people. I ne'er took my 73 in for the recall so it has the Orcinus orca fan on it and yes IT is flex. I ordered new and matchless ower.

Did this today, with success!

Used the parts above, but bought class 8 bolts at topical anesthetic hardware store. Rid of the flex fan, and along with a clutch fan!

Heck of a fourth dimension getting the grip bolts on the water pump. Doable, but real tight. My arms are damaged. Would be and so a great deal easier with radiator outer.

I did mine today. Took all of about 15 minutes to install. My shroud had two screws in the top. I removed those and the shroud leaned towards the engine which allowed me to access the winnow and also the bolts on the water pump.

When I started it up, I couldn't believe the amount of air being pushed out of the engine compartment.

My original fan was a 17" flex fan. It didn't suited all right in the shroud having nigh a 2-in gap all the way around. I installed an 18-in clutch fan. Allay have over an inch on all side of the shroud and also in all likelihood 3 in between the buff and the radiator.

I opine the combination of larger fan and trying on in the mainsheet amend combined with the clutch fan has made a huge difference.

After I took the flex winnow off I did a little inspection of the rivets holding the blades in place. I found a capillary fracture on one of the blades. Probably just going to be a matter of time before that 1 came flying off.

Thanks for all the info guys. You guys did all the hard work for me by researching part numbers racket etc.
